    The situation

    Hurst Farms & Greenery is a Westboro, Missouri business operating 30 greenhouses comprising 130,000 square feet under cultivation, alongside over 1,000 acres of corn and soybean crops. Climate-controlled growing at that scale is a monitoring problem before it is anything else.

    What went in

    Veea and Trilogy partnered with Microclimates, which specialises in all phases of data gathering and process control for climate-controlled environments, to package a combined precision agriculture solution around Microclimates' affordable, scalable universal control system.

    PT Bum Desa

    A mountainside village where Internet and cellular service were almost non-existent now averages 282 registered devices and 50 concurrent active sessions a day, on a community cloud that keeps content local and bills per device rather than per household.

    The situation

    Veea built a platform that addresses the digital divide from Latin America to remote locations across Southeast Asia. In Indonesia, the world's fourth most-populous country, Veea joined forces with local service provider PT Bum Desa to overcome the barriers to affordable service for underserved communities. In Argamukti — a mountainside village at the foot of the extinct Ciremai Volcano in West Java — communication services offered by the local providers, Internet and cellular alike, were almost non-existent because of how remote it is.

    What went in

    Connectivity delivered at the edge, where it is actually consumed, with a community cloud allowing content to be stored locally and flexible per-device billing so the offering meets a customer's specific needs rather than the traditional one-size-fits-all household approach.

    What changed

    • 282 registered devices accessing the network on average, since inception.
    • 50 concurrent active sessions per day.
    • Village life in Argamukti transformed since the debut of the new system.

    Veea's network will eventually provide Internet connectivity and value-added services to a population of over 30 million people across 30,000 towns and villages and 12 million surrounding farms, on the 16,772 islands in Indonesia.

    Banpu

    Wi-Fi from the mine entrance along the haul roads to the stocking facilities, LoRaWAN sensors on weather, land movement and dust, and edge computing acting on all of it at the site. Mining trucks are tracked in real time and workers are covered across a region that had no usable connectivity at all.

    The situation

    Banpu is a leading coal and gas mining company in Southeast Asia, operating large-scale mines in remote regions where connectivity is a major challenge. The lack of reliable communication from the mine entrance to storage facilities caused critical issues in tracking high-value assets such as mining trucks, monitoring security, and ensuring employee safety. With roads spanning vast distances between the mine and storage areas, real-time tracking and monitoring were impossible without an advanced wireless solution.

    What it had to solve

    • Accountability for asset movement — no way to track the location and status of mining trucks along the routes between the mines and stocking facilities.
    • Employee safety — monitoring the well-being of workers in isolated areas with no existing connectivity.
    • Environmental monitoring — continuous monitoring of weather conditions, land movement and air quality to maintain safety standards.
    • Connectivity — the remoteness of the region made traditional connectivity solutions impractical.

    What went in

    Banpu turned to ICT, who partnered with Veea. The hyperconverged edge network combined with IoT gateway capabilities fitted the need.

    • Bi-directional Wi-Fi from the mine entrance along the roadways to the stocking facilities.
    • IoT gateways and LoRaWAN sensors — Veea's multi-purpose hubs tracking and monitoring weather stations, land movement and PM2.5 dust levels.
    • Edge computing — real-time data processing and decision-making at the edge, reducing latency and improving operational efficiency.
    • IoT meshing and cloud connectivity — hubs forming a network that extends connectivity across the operation, connected to the cloud for long-term data storage and analysis.

    A proof of concept ran at one of Southeast Asia's largest coal and gas mining sites in East Kalimantan, covering Wi-Fi performance evaluations, LoRaWAN predictions and feeding various sensors into ChirpStack, before ICT and Banpu implemented the solution.
